Full-Time Student

A full-time student load is a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Full-time students typically take 12-16 credit hours or about 5 classes.
Registration for classes takes place in advance of each semester.
JJC offers a 16 week fall semester, a 16 week spring semester, and a shortened/accelerated summer session.
Most of our courses are 3-5 credit hours.
An Associate degree requires an average of about 64 credit hours and it generally takes 2 years for full-time students to complete.

Steps to Apply for New Full-Time Students:

Complete a JJC application.

There are special admissions processes for Nursing, Vet tech, Radiology, early entry students, high school leavers, and those pursuing dual admissions. The applying processes for these are listed under "special admissions" on the students page.
Submit an official, sealed, high school/GED transcript to the JJC Admissions Office at Main Campus, room J-1005.
Take the ACT COMPASS Placement Test.
Receive an acceptance letter from the JJC Admissions Office. You may continue the admissions process before you receive this letter in the mail. Please go to the Next Steps page to continue the admissions process.

Investigate financial aid and scholarships at the paying for college page.
Go to the ID / user name / password help page and obtain your JJC username and password.
View the new student information presentation and select a counselor-assisted registration session to attend (required for full-time students). See the counseling site for more information.

The Agriculture/Horticulture Department has a specialized intake process. Students pursuing these majors must contact the department to complete their New Student Orientation Process. See the Horticulture Sciences Department or Agriculture Sciences Department for more information.
Attend a New Student Group Advising Session and register for courses.
Make full payment or apply for deferred payment online through the FACTS plan at eResources.
Purchase your textbooks at the JJC Bookstore.
Students with documented disabilities should contact Student Accommodations and Resources (STAR) to arrange accommodations.
