Contact Roxane M. Geraci Director of Community Relations at (815) 280-2279, rogeraci@jjc.edu JJC Trustee Elected to Leadership Position for the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) Joliet Junior College Trustee Jeff May, of Channahon, was elected secretary of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) recently by his community college peers. May will serve in this position from July 1, 2006, to June 30, 2007. The ICCTA has provided legislative advocacy and education opportunities for community college boards since 1971. "I believe this is a good opportunity to represent JJC in a leadership position. It will allow me to be actively involved in developing community college policy at a state level - and it gives me an opportunity to network with my peers in order to bring good ideas home for JJC," said May, who also was appointed as associate member to the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) as a Public Policy Committee recently. Other ICCTA leadership officers include: Dr. Clare Ollayos, Elgin Community College, president; Kathy Wessel, College of DuPage, vice president; and Jerry Wright, Illinois Central College, treasurer. May, an educational administrator at the Grundy-Kendall Regional Office of Education and the Will County Regional Office of Education, has served as a JJC trustee since 1999. He was JJC Board of Trustees chair from November 2003-2004 and was re-elected to the Board in April 2005 (term ends in 2011). May is currently lieutenant governor for Division 23 Kiwanis Illinois-Eastern Iowa District and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Joliet. "I understand that JJC serves parts of seven counties, and this ICCTA appointment is important in the growing region we serve," May said. "My focus is to help JJC strive for excellence and continue providing high quality programs, while remaining affordable. We offer so much for so many people, and I want to do all I can to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our population from a local and state level." ### Photo Available Upon Request |
