Make-up Testing

Students needing to take tests missed from class should speak with their instructors, so that the tests will be on file when they arrive.

Students must log-in at the front reception desk computer, by typing in their social security number and responding to the questions on the screen. The receptionist will then write down the instructor's name, course name, and, if available, the test numbers. The student will then submit their driver's license or a photo with the student identification card, and the written test information to one of the ASC secretaries.

Tests will be pulled from the files by the ASC secretaries, clerks, or by one of the support staff tutors, when necessary. Student workers are not allowed to handle any tests that are delivered by instructors, and do not have access to the testing cabinet.

When administering a test, the secretary and/or clerk will sign off on the test submission form, the date of testing and their initials.

Students are required to sit in the "Testing Area", when taking a make-up test. All ASC secretaries and clerks make visual observance of each student taking tests. If any student is observed cheating, the monitor is to approach the student quietly and retrieve the test and any notes being used for submission to the instructor later. The student is then, asked by the monitor to sign out on the front desk computer.

When completed, the secretary and/or clerk will sign off on the test submission form, the date of mailing the test, if requested by the instructor, their initials, and the words, "mailed", will be written on the line in the lower right hand corner of the form. If the instructor says he/she will pick up the test, the test is then placed in the "pick-up" file folder in the testing cabinet.

The Academic Skills Center will not accept any tests without student names, unless the instructor has forgotten this information, i.e., left his/her class list in his/her office. However, the instructor is required to contact the Academic Skills Center as soon as possible with these names.
