Dr. Keller was born in Bloomington, Ill., and grew up in Markham, Ill., a south suburb of Chicago. He went to Bremen High School in Midlothian. From there, he went to the University of Illinois and worked toward an Animal Science degree, later attending the College of Veterinary Medicine. During his years at the University of Illinois, he worked at the school’s research farms and veterinary clinic animal wards. He graduated with his DVM in 1987.

Dr. Keller was an associate veterinarian for 12 years at the Oak Forest Animal Clinic and had no intentions of leaving practice. But when JJC announced plans to develop a veterinary medical technology program, he knew he could make a big impact in the care of animals as a teacher.

As coordinator of JJC’s program since its inception in 1999, Dr. Keller has been able to help care for more animals by developing the medical skills of other animal lovers, like himself. Dr. Keller knows he made the right choice. The work he does is deeply rewarding. He is grateful to work with students and colleagues who are so passionate about the welfare of animals.

Dr. Keller has many interests including stamp collecting, model railroading, Ford Mustangs (a 1967 coupe and 1966 convertible), woodworking and digital video.

Dr. Keller is married, has wonderful children and a dog named Rebel. They are his greatest joy.
