Doug Foss joined the staff at Joliet Junior College in the Fall of 2002. He is a 1966 graduate of JJC, holding an Associate's Degree in Agriculture, and continued on to Iowa State where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education in 1969. He is currently working toward completing a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Illinois.
Foss has been a grain and swine producer for thirty years, and has been active in various agricultural associations, holding local, state, and national positions. He helped to organize the Grundy County Corn Growers and two hugely successful Corn Power machinery shows in 1986 and 1988. During his tenure with the National and Illinois Corn Marketing Boards, he was a key player in obtaining federal funding for the Corn Genome Mapping initiative, and traveled to Asia on a trade mission with the Meat Export Federation.
Doug has been certified as an instructor by Briggs and Stratton and by the Equipment and Education Training Council in small engines and compact diesel engines.
Prior to teaching at Joliet Junior College, Doug spent three years as an agricultural loan officer at a local banking corporation.
