Dale Hummel became a part of the Joliet Junior College faculty in 1992 after graduating from the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign, with a B.S. degree in Animal Science and a M.S. degree in Ruminant Nutrition. While at the University of Illinois, he taught Livestock Selection courses and coached the Livestock Judging Team.

His work experiences have been in swine, cattle, and sheep operations; ultrasound scanning; and judging livestock shows. These experiences have taken place across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

Dale teaches courses in the area of Animal Science, which include: Introduction to Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Animal Genetics, Swine Management, Livestock Selection, Artificial Insemination of Swine, and Artificial Insemination of Cattle.
