This scholarship was established by the Fine Arts Department in 2004 to celebrate the life and teaching career of Jerry E. Lewis, a span of thirty-three years during which he taught applied brass and jazz history; directed the JJC Jazz Band (25 years); and was the founder and director of the JJC Community Band (26 years). Mr. Lewis also chaired the Music Department and the Fine Arts Department (27 years). The recipient will be nominated and voted upon by the Joliet Junior College Music and Theater faculty and staff. The annual scholarship is non-renewable.
The following criteria must be met:
- Recipient must demonstrate exceptional potential as a music or theatre major.
- Finalists may be asked to audition, interview, and/ or present a portfolio.
- Student must have a 3.0 GPA in Music classes and a 2.7 overall.
- Your enrollment status must be Full-time (twelve or more hours).
