The Joliet Junior College Jazz Band is a college instrumental ensemble comprised of students and community members of high school age or older. This ensemble is one of many fine ensembles offered by the JJC Music department. It's mission is to provide an educational and creative outlet for residents in Joliet Junior College District 525 for both traditional and non-traditional students. Under the direction of Mr. Charles Morgan, this community jazz band has achieved national recognition, having performed in St. Louis, Mo., and Kansas City, Mo., Orlando, Fla., and New Orleans.
The ensemble has also made appearances at the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival for over 20 years and numerous Midwest jazz festivals. The band has an open enrollment, and anyone who plays a typical jazz instrument is eligible.
There is no entrance audition, and participants may register for course credit or as non-credit. The JJC Jazz Band is dedicated to playing and performing the best of jazz repertoire. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays during the school year, 7pm to 9:30pm at Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road, room K-1001.
