Publicity Request
Use the event publicity request form to promote events, including coverage on the electronic sign, TV monitors, in the Blazer, and on the JJC homepage.
Story Idea
Do you have an interesting story idea about a student, faculty member or event at JJC? Then our new story idea form is what you should fill out. This form will better help us gather more comprehensive information for unique stories to pitch to or write and send to local, regional and national media outlets.
Guidelines for Submitting a Request
Below are guidelines for submitting news and other information to the Communications and External Relations Office.
It is recommended that ideas or JJC news events be sent to us at least four to six weeks in advance. This will ensure that when we distribute our weekly news releases, information has a better chance to be published, particularly in publications that are not produced daily. Submissions should be sent to communications@jjc.edu, or use the appropriate form above to submit your request.
Note: All submissions may be edited for length and clarity.
Format
News items or ideas that are submitted digitally are preferred. When submitting information, attach a Word document to your e-mail. Be sure to briefly describe the subject matter in the 'subject' line of the e-mail.
Content
Please include as much information as possible when submitting your idea. Besides the requisite who, what, when, and where, be sure to address why your idea/event is important or what would be most interesting to readers. Publications are always looking for a unique bent to a story. If we do the legwork and provide it up front, the story has a higher probability of being published.
Photos
We appreciate photos you are able to provide. If you have one, please send it. Or, let us know of a photo opportunity and we can schedule a photographer. Action photos work the best, though portrait shots can be used for appointments and awards announcements. Photos should be sent in a .jpg format.
