The Joliet Junior College Police Department operates under the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing. It is our goal to work with the campus community through programs and communication to help determine ways to prevent crime and minimize other quality-of-life problems on campus.
Student Escort: JJCPD staff is available to escort students, staff and guests to their vehicles upon requests.
Motorist Assist: JJCPD staff will assist, free of charge, with jump-starts, flat tires, lock-outs, out of gas and other minor vehicle problems.
Lost and Found: Found personal property is held for 90 days at the Campus Police station located in Room G-1013.
Emergency Notifications: Notification of family emergencies will be delivered to students or faculty by a uniformed officer. This service is restricted to notices concerning a serious family incident such as medical emergencies, births or deaths. Classes will not be interrupted unless the notification meets the above criteria.
Property Engraving: Electric engravers are available for loan from Campus Police for those who wish to permanently label their property.
Wheelchair Loans: Wheelchairs are available for short -term use on campus grounds only. For this service, call Campus Police at (815) 280-2234.
Cell Phones: In verified cases of Domestic Violence, a limited number of Nextel walkie talkie cell phones are available for loan for brief periods. Contact Campus Police at (815) 280-2234.
RAD & SAFE: Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) is a simple and effective self-defense class for women. Self-Awareness & Familiarization Exchange (SAFE) is a course designed by the National Defense Institute, which teaches basic crime prevention as well as pre-basic familiarization with physical training methods. RAD and SAFE classes are taught periodically throughout the year by Campus Police.
Emergency Phones: There are emergency phones located on JJC campuses. The newest phones are distinctive “bluelight” phones. The remainder, in the process of being replaced, are marked with yellow signs.
- Main Campus: Phones are located in all elevators, locker rooms and at various other locations. Outside there are phones in all parking areas and along the walk from East Lot 1 to J-Building.
- North Campus: Outside K-Building's door
- City Center: Phones are located in the North Stairwell.
AEDs: There are ten Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AED) located on JJC Campuses. AED and First Aid training is available through the JJC Nursing Department.
- Main Campus: AEDs are located in the Fitness Center, J-Building by the main elevators (4th and 1st floors), cafeteria, B-Building outside Child Care, Campus Police and T-Building (Northwest corner of ground floor concourse).
- City Center: AED is located in the front office.
- North Campus: AED is located in the main hall 101.
- Morris Campus: AED is located in the classroom hallway.
Liaison Officer Program: JJCPD has established a liaison officer program. Each officer is assigned to designated campus groups. This officer will be the point of contact for those groups regarding questions, suggestions or problem resolution.
