Welcome to the JJC Diversity Web site, where you will find resources, news, and other information about the JJC community and the value it places on diverse perspectives and an inclusive environment.
As the nation's first public community college, JJC has enriched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people from a broad spectrum of society. It is a diverse institution that mirrors our community. As of fall 2008, 29 percent of JJC's student body is from an ethnic minority population, higher than the approximate 23 percent of district residents who belong to an ethnic minority population.
JJC recognizes its responsibility as a community college to create an inclusive environment that respects and appreciates diverse perspectives. As stated in the college's Core Value of Respect, "JJC celebrates the diversity of our communities and pledges to promote and recognize the strengths as reflected in the employees and students.
JJC's community is one of the fastest growing and changing regions in the nation. The college will continue to foster an inclusive climate of mutual respect and diversity, which is an integral part of the college's commitment to provide quality and accessible education.
