JJC Student
Government Goals for 2007-2008 GOAL #1: Student Government will conduct community outreach both within the college and in the community through service projects and networking opportunities. Objectives: 1. SG will conduct monthly service projects to include but not be limited to: o Celebration of Community Caring (October) o Animal Shelters or Park Clean up projects (November) o Senior Citizens and Holiday Basket creation (December)
2. SG will conduct fundraising campaigns for students in need. In 2007-2008, SG will raise funds for Melissa Ortiz who lost her home in a storm due to a lightning strike. Melissa lives in Lockport and has three high school aged children. 3. SG will continue offering the Scholarship Raffle begun in 2006-2007 offering a full ride scholarship to a JJC student. 4. SG will work with Student Government’s at other colleges to network and collaborate. 5. SG will conduct its annual Battle of the Bands in the spring semester utilizing bands with at least one student member and faculty and staff judges. 6. SG will reach diverse populations through its programs and promote diversity as much as possible. GOAL #2: Student Government will raise awareness of various services and programs of Joliet Junior College. These programs are not limited to the ones listed below: Ö Financial Aid and Scholarships Ö Textbook Reference Copies in Library Ö Voting and Elections Ö Tutoring Services Ö Recycling Ö Lobbying for additional funding for community colleges
