Emergency Response Plan

Ill or Injured Person

To report an injury to JJC students, faculty or staff, contact the Campus Police Department internally at extension 2911 or (815) 280-2911 from Grundy Education Center.

In the event of serious injury or illness, immediately call 911. All internal-use telephones have access to 911. Campus Police Dispatch is notified via a computer generated alarm any time a 911 call is placed from an internal telephone, and will immediately call back the extension that the call was placed from. If there are no other persons around to call 911, and a telephone is not readily available, activate a fire alarm pull to alert emergency personnel.

  • Keep the person still and comfortable and do not move the person unless there is an immediate threat to life such as fire, smoke, or chemical exposure.
  • Ask the person “are you okay?” and “what is wrong?”
  • Question any witnesses and give all information to the paramedics.
  • CPR and/or first aid should be rendered by trained personnel.
  • Notify the Campus Police Department internally at extension 2911 or (815) 280-2911 from Grundy Education Center.

Employee Injuries/Occupational Illness:

A JJC Report of Accident Form must be filled out by the injured employee and submitted to the immediate supervisor. The supervisor will complete the investigation portion of the report and forward to Human Resources immediately following an accident which results in any type of on-the-job injury to a college employee. In the case that the employee is severely injured or otherwise unable to complete the report, the supervisor shall do so based upon their investigation. Occupational illness refers to illness that relates to the specific job or work area of the staff or the students.

Student/Guest Injuries:

Any student or guest injury should be immediately reported to a CSO or the Campus Police Department.
