Armed Offender

An armed offender is a person possessing a weapon capable of deadly force. In this situation please remember you can use a panic button or an emergency call box to call for help if you are not near a telephone.

If You See an Armed Offender:

• Evacuate immediately if you can do so safely and call 911.
• Remain calm, do not panic.
• Alert others if you can do so safely.

If Trapped In a Building With an Armed Offender:

• Take shelter immediately, conceal yourself if possible and call 911.
• Remain calm, do not panic.
• Attempt to alert others without risking your safety.
• Do not expose yourself to the offender. Do not cry out, whimper, or moan.
• Do not attempt to negotiate.

If Captured By an Armed Offender:

• Follow instructions and remain calm.
• If a SWAT assault occurs, take cover immediately.
• Follow any police directions.
