- Joliet Junior College's Technical Department hosted an Orthotics and Prosthetics
Technology (OPT) Open House on May 23rd. This event gave many current and prospective students the opportunity to find out more about the
exciting OPT program here at JJC and investigate the OPT field and career opportunities while visiting with local businesses and industry
professionals. The OPT program will be in full force here at JJC this Fall preparing students for an exciting and vigorous career! Thanks go out to
all who contributed to make the OPT Open House such a successful event for the students and the college!
- JJC Automotive students dominated the April 19-21, 2007 Skills USA State Competition, taking 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th and 11th. JJC's
first place student will continue on to compete for the national championship at the Skills USA National Competition held June 25-30, 2007 in Kansas
City, Missouri. Read more

On Friday, March 9th, the Technical department hosted 93 students from 11 area high schools for the
IDEA 2007 competition. The event tested the hand-drafting and computer aided design and drafting skills of the students in 3-D and 2-D solutions
to mechanical, solids and architectural problems. Faculty and industry professionals served as judges for the competition which awarded 21 total
prizes including plaques for the first place finishers and software packages for all place winners. The students, their teachers and all others
involved had a great, fun productive day here at JJC. Good Luck to those winners who will advance to the State level!
- JJC automotive students took 2nd place at the Chi-Town teardown (engine teardown and reassembly contest) held January 28th at the
World of Wheels (McCormick Place, Chicago IL). Read more...
- The CJS/LE program is offering its first course at the Grundy campus this spring 2007.
- The revised and re-named Criminal Justice Club now can claim more than 40 active members and they just had their
first picnic on September 26th at 2pm. The next picnic is scheduled for Monday October 16th at 2pm on the B building patio.
- Det. Sgt. Hilary Buck is attending “College Night” on 10/10/06, representing the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement
Division.
- 10/3/06 Automotive News: JJC’s Casey Wagoner places 19th at Skills USA National Conference, automotive program
awarded $2600.00 worth of online training for our students, etc. Read more...
- Det. Sgt. Hilary Buck attended the Corn Fest parade in Morris on October 1st, representing the Technical Department,
handing out related items along the parade route.
- On September 22nd, the Criminal Justice Internship class sponsored a Police K-9 demonstration at the Rock Run Woods
Trail next to campus for all Criminal Justice Studies and Law Enforcement students.
- The Manufacturing program is proud to announce that in the recent
Skills USA competition in Springfield our JJC students captured a gold, a silver and a
bronze medal. Charles Wiltgen won the state competition in
the CNC Milling competition and represented Illinois at the national competition held in Kansas City Mo. June 19-24,
where he won gold again. In addition, Cullen
Martin won silver in the Precision Machining competition with Chase Hanlock receiving the
bronze. Two more of our students rounded out the top 5, Raul Delarosa and
Ben Cowan finished fourth and fifth.
In the CAD competition Doran Durling received a silver Medal with Ted Veselsky capturing the
bronze. Counting the medals
the Automotive program won, the Technical
department captured 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3
bronze medals. Congratulations to all that participated.
- JJC took
first and third place in Automotive Service
Technology at the Skills USA Competition. Casey Wagoner was the state champ and Will Raczak
finished third.
- The results of the Skills USA State qualifying exams
yielded 12 JJC students who competed in Automotive Service Technology at the
state competition held in Springfield at April 27-30. There were only two other students in the entire state that qualified at the college level.
