Music Majors are required to take the following:

I. Four semesters of large ensemble.

          Music 150  Chamber Singers

II. Four semesters of Class Piano
          Music 110

III. Four semesters of Applied Instruction-Two hours credit, One hour lesson
          Music 220  Applied Piano
          Music 221  Applied Voice
          Music 222  Applied Woodwinds
          Music 223  Applied Brass
          Music 224  Applied Instrument
          Music 225  Applied Percussion
          Music 226  Applied Guitar
In the following areas:  Piano, Voice, Woodwinds, Brass, Guitar and Percussion Music

IV. Four semesters of Music Theory
          Music 105  Theory of Music (Fall semester only)
          Music 106  Theory of Music (Spring semester only)
          Music 205  Advanced Theory of Music (Fall semester only)
          Music 206  Advanced Theory of Music (Spring semester only)

V. Music 104 Fundamentals of Music

Please note:  Music 104 (Fundamentals of Music) is a prerequisite for entrance into Music 105.  A student must pass Music 104 with a minimum grade of  “B” and satisfactory achievement of competency requirements, or placement by examination.

Students must pass Music 105, 106 and 205 with a minimum grade of “C” to continue with the next theory course.

VI. Music History
     Music 201 Music History I
     Music 202 Music History II  (Elective credit)

Please note: Music 101 Exploration of Music Literature is a prerequisite for entrance into Music 201.  A student must pass Music 101 with a minimum grade of “B”.

VII. Recital Attendance

There is a Fine Arts Department Recital Attendance Policy.  Student recital attendance cards will be distributed at the beginning of each semester and will be punched for each performance.  Failure to meet the requirements will result in a lowered applied music grade.
