Joliet Junior College Music Student Recitals
The Joliet Junior College Music Student Recitals are held in the Fine Arts Theatre. The recitals
are free of charge and open to the public. Students enrolled in all areas of applied music at Joliet Junior College are eligible to perform on
the recitals.

The Honors Recital is held at the conclusion of the spring semester, usually the first Thursday in May at 7:30
p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre.
Students are recommended by the music faculty to audition. The performers are selected from those who audition. The
recital is free of charge and open to the public.

JJC Chamber Singers An auditioned choral ensemble which performs
at the annual Madrigal Feast in the fall and the "Tunes and Tastes" in the spring. Both of these events are cooperative efforts of the Fine Arts and Culinary Arts departments. As musical ambassadors of the
college, the JJC Chamber Singers also perform for schools, churches, and
civic organizations. They rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 - 5:30 p.m. during fall and spring semesters.

| JJC Chorale A
community-oriented choral ensemble that performs a variety of choral
works. No audition is required. One major choral work is
performed each semester. The JJC Chorale rehearses Tuesdays from 7

JJC Community Band
This group has earned a reputation as an outstanding symphonic band.
It performs two or three concerts annually and is open to all district
residents who desire to perform in band repertoire. The band
rehearses Mondays from 7 to 9:55 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.

| JJC Jazz Band
This band of players performs two concerts annually and participates in the Elmhurst Jazz Festival. The band plays big band
as well as selections by contemporary composers. Open to all residents of District 525;
rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 7 to 9:45 p.m. during fall and spring semesters.

| JJC Guitar and Percussion Ensembles
The ensemble plays a variety of percussion literature that represents numerous styles of music,
including African, Latin, Jazz, classical, and rock-n-roll. The group covers all areas of percussion instruments including mallets, timpani, drum set, snare drum, ethnic, and multiple set-ups. They rehearse
on Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. during fall and spring semesters.

| Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO)
The youth group seeks to promote and challenge talented orchestral musicians by providing an opportunity to perform symphonic repertoire of a wide variety of styles and historical periods.
Members of MYSO consists of junior and senior high school students from Joliet and
19 surrounding communities, as well as students from JJC, Lewis University, and the University of Saint Francis.
The orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Sisk, rehearses on Wednesday evenings from late August through May at Lewis University with concerts performed at JJC,
Lewis, and St. Francis. JJC students may register for credit by enrolling in Music 160: Instrumental Ensemble.
