Director Philip Spencer arranged to have members of the
JJC Chorale and JJC Chamber Choir join a 250-voice chorus on the stage of the historic Carnegie Hall in New York City
on Memorial Day weekend in 2003, and in 2005.
The event is produced by MidAmerica Productions annually
and choirs from across the country are invited to take part.
JJC members were excited to have the opportunity to meet and work with
composer John Rutter, who conducted his Te Deum in 2003, and his Requiem in
2005. They were thrilled to take part in these very special events and
also to spend time in the Big Apple, as you can see from the comments below.
Next performance trip to Carnegie Hall is planned for
Memorial Day Weekend of 2007.
Payment deadlines begin in October 2006.
Contact Philip Spencer, Director of Choral and Vocal Music, for more information.

I'm still addicted to the Requiem piece itself; still sing through it weekly. Carnegie Hall was stunningly beautiful; the experience
was spiritually meaningful, liberating and powerful!

My second trip to Carnegie Hall with the Chorale was exciting and fun. We learned to use the subway, had a carriage ride in Central
Park, toured Julliard, had a wonderful cruise!

To have this opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall with a large chorus (about 250 voices) and be accompanied by a
full orchestra was wonderful! Thinking of the history of the hall while experiencing the magnificent sound of the present day was
awe-inspiring!

NYC was a wonderful experience, there was so much to see and do and everything was in walking distance! This was my first time there
and I hope to do it again someday. John Rutter was a pleasure to work with and the Requiem was beautiful. I saw three Broadway shows that
were excellent and I was even able to sing a few songs in a local Broadway piano bar. It was awesome! I made many wonderful memories I
will never forget!
