The labs located in C-2014, C-2015, C-2016, and C-2017 are dedicated labs used by the English and World Languages department for classes. When classes are not in session, they are open to all JJC students. The labs in C-2014 and C-2015 are used for developmental writing classes and exams. Each lab holds 25 PCs and a printer. These labs have Internet access, Microsoft Office, and software used in the developmental writing classes. The lab in C-2016 is used for English 101 and 102 and journalism classes and exams. It holds 33 PCs and a printer. The lab has Internet access and Microsoft Office. The computers in this room also have CD-ROM capability, but students must supply their own headsets. The lab in C-2017 is dedicated to world languages courses. It is the only lab upgraded to Windows 2000. It has Microsoft Office, Internet access, CD-ROM capability, and headsets for use with the world-language software. Schedules for the labs are posted outside each door and on several bulletin boards in the department. Schedules also are available online from the master lab schedule accessible from the JJC home page. A lab assistant is on duty during all open hours. When instructors are using a lab for classes, the lab is not available for general student use. Students should also refer to the college’s Policy for Responsible Use, which appears as soon as students access the Internet. |
