What is
P.A.S.?

JJC is an active member of the Illinois and national Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization.  The mission is to provide opportunities for individual growth, leadership, and career preparations.  JJC agriculture students have the opportunity to compete in contests, attend leadership conferences, and hold state and national offices.  Students travel around the country to attend conferences. PAS participation makes a student more competitive for scholarships and employment opportunities.

The association hosts many activities for students in which they may participate throughout the academic year. See below for details on these events.

Get Acquainted Picnic
Each year we hold our annual gathering of students, faculty, and staff at nearby Inwood Park so that the students have an opportunity to socialize with each other, as well as, enjoy a friendly game of softball and recognize the many scholarship winners within the department.

Haunted Trail

The Student Agriculture Association in a joint effort with the Student Horticulture Association put on a Haunted Trail. The two clubs set up various spooky scenes along a section of the JJC Nature Trail. The Haunted Trail was a lot of fun.

Joliet Jackhammer Game
This year the Ag Department was asked to participate in a Joliet Jackhammer Game at nearby Silver Cross Field. They were asked to provide an informational booth and to deliver the ceremonial “first pitch” balls to the Pitchers Mound. The members who attended had a fun time.

Holiday Smorgasbord
In order to celebrate the end of the Fall Semester, and have memorable time together before the stress of finals and then the Holiday Break, the SAA held a Holiday Smorgasbord. Members were asked to bring in dishes of food and the SAA sponsored turkeys that were then deep fried. Everyone had a great time and the food was delicious.

SAA Bowling

The Spring Semester was in full swing and the Sophomores were preparing for their internships. All members were invited to Echo Bowl in Morris for a night of fun and bowling. All the members who attended had a great time.
