Agriculture Business
The Agriculture Business Program prepares students for careers in the many fields of agriculturally related businesses. Graduates are employed full-time in positions relating to the Chemical/Fertilizer, Seed, Ag Equipment, Ag Structures, Feed, Livestock Buying, and Grain Handling/Merchandising Industries. Placement of graduates has been consistently near 100%.
Internships:
The Supervised Occupational Experience Program is an integral part of this program and provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while earning JJC credits as well as being paid a regular salary/wage. Placement is coordinated by JJC Agriculture Staff and each student is visited on-site during the internship period. JJC Agriculture Business students are placed throughout the United States.
Employment:
Graduates from the Agriculture Business Program typically each have 4-6 full-time positions to choose from upon graduation. Often they will remain with their final placement employer for a permanent full-time position. Starting salaries range from $18,000 - 30,000.
Specialized Classes:
Nearly 40 specialized classes in Agriculture are available to our students so you may customize your education to your specific area of interest whether that be AGRONOMY, AGRICULTURE MECHANIZATION, RETAILING or AGRICULTURE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT. In addition, many of our classes include weekly hands-on laboratory experience to enhance practical learning.
Specialized Faculty:
Your instructors will be highly qualified professionals dedicated to providing you with an up-to-date quality education which will prepare you for a successful career. Average class size is only 20 students so if you need assistance, it is readily available.
Excellent Facilities:
JJC's Agriculture Programs are housed in a separate building on the main campus and are recognized as being among the finest in the Midwest. In addition, the 140 acre J. F. Richards Land Laboratory with numerous agronomy research and demonstration plots provides students with another opportunity to enhance their education.
