Transferring to Joliet Junior College
from another college

Students transferring to Joliet Junior College from another college who plan to register as full-time students, part-time students, or are unsure of which courses to take must make an appointment with a counselor before registering.
Please follow the 5 steps below:
Step 1

Complete a JJC Online Application for Admissions

Step 2

A. Request your official transcripts from the college(s) you have
    previously attended be sent to:

                       Attn: Graduation Office
B. Submit a Transcript Evaluation Request Form

Step 3 Compass Placement testing is required for enrollment in Math, English and/or Foreign Language. 
  
EXCEPTION: If college-level English and/or Math has been completed with a grade of "C" or better, Compass testing is not required. 
For English: Students must bring proof of successful completion of prerequisite English course to the counseling appointment and to the first day of class. 
For Math: Please review the placement procedures
for enrolling in a JJC Math course if previous college math credit has been earned.
Step 4 Investigate the financial aid processes. 
Step 5 Schedule an appointment with a JJC Counselor or Advisor to discuss courses for degrees and/or certificates: 815.280.2673
(Students will view a Reverse Transfer Presentation and complete an information form on the day of their appointment.

Students must bring documentation (grade reports, etc) of all completed work to counseling appointment.  Although a counselor/advisor cannot officially evaluate transcripts
(official process in Step 2), the documents will assist in course selection.

Please note: Students who have earned 6 or more hours of credit from another college and transfer to JJC do not attend a new student group advising session. Those who have earned less, must follow criteria for New Full Time students.
