ARTICLE: 1. Name of Chapter
The name of this chapter of Phi Theta Kappa shall be Alpha Lambda Phi of Joliet Junior College herein referred to as JJC.
ARTICLE: 2. Purpose
The purpose of Alpha Lambda Phi at Joliet Junior College shall be the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students of this college.
ARTICLE: 3. Membership
Section 1. Membership in Alpha Lambda Phi shall consist of provisional, active, honorary, and alumni members.
Section 2. Each candidate for active membership must have completed 20.0 or more semester hours of 100-level or higher classes at JJC, have an accumulative grade point average of 3.60 on a 4.00 scale, be currently enrolled in a minimum of three credit hours, adhere to the school conduct code, and possess recognized qualities of membership.
A cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.35 must be maintained to remain in good standing. A student will be notified in writing when his or her Grade Point Average falls below 3.35. A student failing to meet the maintenance level will be placed on probation for a period of one semester. During this probationary period, the student has the opportunity to raise his or her cumulative Grade Point Average to 3.35. Failure to maintain the required cumulative Grade Point Average will result in the member being removed from good standing as stated in the Phi Theta Kappa Constitution and Bylaws, Chapter 1, Section 3. Failure to meet good standing requirements as stated in the Phi Theta Kappa Constitution and Bylaws will cause membership and all membership privileges to be revoked.
Section 3. A candidate for membership will be sent an invitation for membership only twice.
Section 4. This chapter and all its active members will be officially affiliated with the international organization of Phi Theta Kappa.
Section 5. A 3.60 grade point average must be maintained by an active member in order to qualify for Joliet Junior College Phi Theta Kappa scholarships.
Section 6. Alumni members shall be former members of the chapter. Alumni members shall be entitled to all the privileges of active members except the right to vote or hold office.
Section 7. Honorary membership may be granted in this chapter to men and women who have rendered distinguished service. Honorary members may not vote or hold office.
ARTICLE: 4. Provisional Membership
Section 1. Those seeking provisional memberships must have completed a minimum of twelve (12) or more semester hours of 100-level or higher classes at JJC, have an accumulative grade point average of 3.60, on a 4.00 scale, be currently enrolled in a minimum of three credit hours, adhere to the school conduct code, and-possess recognized qualities of membership.
Section 2. Phi Theta Kappans transferring to JJC from other academic institutions are to be classified as Provisional Members until the criteria in Article 3, Section 2 have been accomplished.
Section 3. Transition from provisional to active membership may be accomplished by meeting the standards set forth in Article 3, Section 2.
Section 4. Provisional members will not be affiliated with the international organization of Phi Theta Kappa.
Section 5. Provisional members may neither hold office nor vote.ARTICLE: 5. Advisor(s)
Section 1. The chapter advisor(s) shall be appointed by the administration of Joliet Junior College.
Section 2. The advisor(s) shall be responsible for the guidance of chapter activities and shall act on behalf of the international society and the college administration.
Section 3. The chapter advisor(s) shall oversee and assist the Chapter Officers with the annual report required by the International Phi Theta Kappa society.
Section 4. The chapter advisor(s) shall not be a voting member(s) of Alpha Lambda Phi.
Section 5: Assist the Leadership Committee in obtaining potential and current membership information as needed from Joliet Junior College files and International e-member files.
ARTICLE: 6. Officers
Section 1. The Alpha Lambda Phi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa shall have the following leadership structure:

Section 5. The duties of the Financial Secretary shall be the following:

Maintain accurate accounting records of all Chapter funds.
Section 6. The duties of the Fund-Raising Chairperson shall be the following:
- Coordinate with Financial Secretary to maintain accurate accounting relating to all fund-raising events.
- Assist with completion and submission of all vouchers pertaining to chapter fund-raising activities.
- Chair all committees related to fund-raising activities.
- Prepare and submit a report of chapter fund-raising at each Leadership meeting.
Section 7. The duties of the Public Relations Chairperson shall be the following:
- Submit appropriate requests for on-campus and facility publicity in accordance with campus policy.
- Submit press releases in accordance with chapter requirements and campus policy.
- Act as a liaison to coordinate and update the chapter website and listserv as needed.
Section 8. The duties of the Yearbook Chairperson shall be the following:
- Prepare and maintain the chapter Yearbook of all events for regional and international meetings and conventions.
- Submit Yearbook for regional publications.
Section 9. The duties of the Service Hour Chairperson shall be the following:
- Provide members with written information regarding service hour requirements for Phi Theta Kappa.
- Provide and collect service hour sheets from members.
- Provide a monthly update of service hours completed by the members to the Leadership Committee, prior to Membership meetings.
- Present an oral presentation to the membership at the first (1st) monthly meeting of the Fall and Spring semesters.
Section 10. The duties of the Collegiate Club Council Representative shall be the following:
- Attend Collegiate Club Council (or current campus governmental body) meetings as the representative for Alpha Lambda Phi.
- Submit minutes from the Collegiate Club Council meetings to the President each month.
- Act as liaison with all on-campus clubs.
- Submit minutes of all meetings for on-campus co-sponsored event(s).
Section 11. The duties of the Past President shall be the following:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Leadership Committee.
- Assist with the preparing of annual budgets.
ARTICLE: 7. Election of Officers
Section 1. Elections shall be held for Leadership Committee positions at the March Membership meeting to allow for installation of the elected officers during the spring induction ceremony.
Section 2. Officers shall hold office from the time of the installation to the following year's installation (1 year).
Section 3. Nominations from the floor may be made at the same meeting as the election.
Section 4. Majority of the votes cast will determine the new officer.
Section 5. In the event that an officer resigns or is impeached from their office, the President shall have the power to make a temporary appointment at their discretion until a meeting can be held.
Section 6. A special election will be held at the next Membership meeting in accordance with Article 7, Section 3.
Section 7. Newly elected officers will serve as "office elect" until installation. (i.e. President Elect)
ARTICLE: 8. Impeachment of Officers
Section 1. A meeting of the Leadership Committee will review any instances, their validity and the possibility of impeachment.
Section 2. A letter will be sent notifying the Membership of a special hearing and Membership vote for impeachment, which will be held at the next Membership meeting.
Section 3. A vote of three fourths (3/4) majority of those present is required to remove an officer from their office.
Section 4 . Appointee to chairpersonships may be removed by concurrence of the Leadership Committee.
Section 5. Any person removed from office or chairpersonships shall be notified in writing as to the reason(s) for their removal.
ARTICLE: 9. Meetings
Section 1. Leadership meetings will be held once a month. All business will be conducted in accordance with Article 9, Section 3. The purpose will be to finalize information for presentation at the membership meetings.
Section 2. Membership meetings will be held once a month during regular school semesters. The purpose will be to present information to the membership for their consideration and involvement.
Section 3. Order of Business – all meetings will follow this agenda:
Section 4. A quorum of the Leadership Committee shall be constituted of no less than six (6) of its members
Section 5. A quorum of the Membership shall be constituted from a majority plus one (1) of those attending the meeting.
Section 6. All members shall be governed by the most recent adaptation of Robert's Rules of Order.
Section 7. Special committee meetings shall be called by the chairperson of said committee, with notification to the President. Procedures at such meetings are left to the discretion of the chairperson. Reports of each meeting must be presented to the President and Officers prior to the Membership meeting.
ARTICLE: 10. Finances
Section 1. Finances for the chapter shall be conducted within the guidelines set by Joliet Junior College and include fund raising activities as voted on by the Leadership Committee.
Section 2. Payment of International Initiation Fee must be received by the chapter before active members can be inducted.
Section 3. Disbursement vouchers must be submitted with supporting invoices statements attached to the original invoice, and signed by one Leadership person, preferably the Financial Secretary and one (1) advisor, with notification to the entire Leadership Committee.
Section 4. An audit of the year’s finances will be conducted by the Leadership Committee, one (1) general member and one (1) advisor. Audit must be completed during the second (2nd) to last month of Spring Semester.
Section 5: A budget must be in place prior to the second (2nd) Membership Meeting of Fall Semester. Updated versus actual budget must be evaluated and reviewed at each Leadership Meeting.ARTICLE: 11. Amendments and Revisions
Section 1. The bylaws may be amended by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members present at any Membership Meeting, provided that the proposed amendment has been presented at a previous meeting.
