~ HOP-A-THON
The Joliet chapter of the American Muscular Dystrophy Association is having two packing parties to prepare for their upcoming HOP-A-THON (disability awareness) programs. The MDA is for volunteers to help prepare program materials. The first packing party is scheduled for Friday, February 29, and the second packing party is Friday, March 7.
MDA is a large, well-known nonprofit organization that provides medical services, support groups, summer camp, and awareness for over 40 neuromuscular diseases. Volunteer experience at MDA provides students with insight into large-scale nonprofit business and builds networking opportunities within the Joliet area. In the future, volunteers will be needed for other events, such as ALS Awareness game and Jerseys off Their Backs event at Silver Cross Field. Phi Theta Kappa students who volunteer with the MDA in Joliet can earn service hour credit for their time. Interested students should email Phi Theta Kappa member (and MDA staff member) Melody Reilly at mreilly@mdausa.org or mreill19@jjc.edu
