Lady Wolves take control of Prairie State

 

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team defeated Prairie State College by a score of 79-45. Tiana Nobles led the Lady Wolves with 19 points followed by Martha Benjamin with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Shakyra Robinson scored 13 points including 6 of 8 from the field. Robinson also posted 7 assists, 6 steals, and 3 blocked shots. Terri Warnsley had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. "I am excited to start the year off with a win," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We are going back to retune a few things and should be ready to go after that." JJC (1-0 overall) travels to the annual Madison Area Technical College tournament to take on Gogebic Community College on Friday, November 14, 2008. Game time is 2:00 pm.

Joliet defeats Gogebic CC in tournament play

 

The JJC women's basketball team defeated Gogebic Community College (MI) by a score of 71-67 in the opening round of the Madison Area Technical College basketball tournament. Leading the way for the Lady Wolves was Terri Warnsley with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Martha Benjamin added 10 points and 9 rebounds, while Brittany Edwards scored 10 points. "I thought we played well," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We have a few things to work on, but I think we can compete." JJC (2-0 overall) takes on Rochester Community & Technical College (MN) for the MATC Championship on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Game time is 2:00 pm.

Rochester tops Lady Wolves

 

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team was defeated in the MATC Tournament Championship game by Rochester Community & Technical College (MN) with a score of 75-67. Candace Berryhill led Joliet with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 blocked shots. Terri Warnsley posted 17 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Tiana Nobles chipped in with 9 points. "We had our chances," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We cut the lead down to one point in the second half, but just came up short." JJC (2-1 overall) travels to Oakton Community College on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Game time is 5:00 pm.
