Alan B. Kehlet and Lois Endress Engineering Scholarship

Code: EN135
his scholarship was established through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Kehlet. Students receiving this scholarship must be U.S. citizens. Financial need is not a factor.

  • Award: Determined annually
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time sophomore
  • GPA: 3.0 or above

Archie S. Kerr Memorial Scholarship in Law Enforcement

This scholarship will be awarded to a student in good standing who has completed CRJ - 1002 and CRJ - 110. The applicant's objective is to become a law enforcement officer.

  • Award: Determined annually
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time (12 or more credit hours)
  • GPA: 2.0 or above
  • Deadline: April 1 or until suitable candidate is found

C B & I Constructors, Inc. Welding Scholarship

Code: AN419
This scholarship is available to a minority or female student enrolled in the welding curriculum who has interest in pursuing a career in field construction. The scholarship is to be awarded on the basis of the following priorities:First, to a second-year, full-time student, second, to a first-year, full-time student, and third, to a part-time student.

  • Award: $500

Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties

Code: GS072
The applicant must be a son or daughter of an owner or full-time employee of a CAWGC member company or child of a Will/Grundy union building tradesman.

  • Award: Determined annually
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time (12 or more credit hours)
  • GPA: 2.0 or above
  • Deadline: March 19

  • Major: Construction-related
  • Selection: Selection of recipients will be made by the Technical Department Scholarship Committee.
  • Required Documents: Applicant must submit his/her high school transcript (including ACT/SAT scores) and current college transcript, if applicable, a resume; listing all high school activities and achievements (including offices held), and a list of clubs, teams, honors, volunteer experiences and hobbies in which he or she has participated, including Scouts (with rank achieved). In addition, applicant must submit an essay explaining how his or her chosen field will apply to the construction industry, his or her goals, where he or she plans to attend college, and why he or she applied for this scholarship. Student must submit written verification of parents employment with a CAWGC member firm or member building trades union. Verification must be submitted by a company official or building trades union official.

Edward R. Valintis Scholarship Application

  • Enrollment Status: Full-time (12 or more credit hours)
  • GPA: 2.5 or above
  • Where to apply: Fill out the application form(PDF). Return application to the Financial Aid Department at Joliet Junior College.
  • Major: Applicant must be enrolled in one of the following Technical programs: AEC, AS, CADD, EEAS, EET, IMT, MFG, PCIT, RAH/HVAC, or WELD.
  • Selection: Application must reside within District 525. Recipients must demonstrate financial need.
  • Required Documents: Applicant must provide two letters of reference from a Joliet Junior College instructor, who addresses the applicant's character and ability to meet his or her goals. All students applying for scholarships must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The applications are available in the JJC Financial Aid Office, local public libraries, and high school guidance offices. Please complete the form as early in the Spring Semester as possible in order to receive your Student Aid Report before the scholarship deadline. This scholarship may only be used for Joliet Junior College tuition, fees, textbooks and supplies. The award will be directly applied to the recipients JJC account.

Instrument Society of America Scholarship

Code: EN778
This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Instrument Society of America. Scholarships are available to assist students majoring in the Technical Department curriculum of Electrical/Electronic Automated Systems Technology, (EEAS), and Electronic Engineering Technology, (EET), or who are enrolled in Process Control and Instrumentation during the present school year and who have successfully completed 2- EEAS classes or 2- EET classes. or 2- PCII classes. The scholarship may be used to pay tuition, lab fees, books and supplies.

  • GPA: 2.5 or above

John M. Bill Memorial Scholarship Fund

Code: AN562
This scholarship was established through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence T. Overcash and their daughter, Ms. Megan Overcash. The scholarship may be used for in-district tuition and fees, as well as textbooks, supplies or on-campus student housing.

  • Award: Approximately $300
  • Enrollment Status: High school senior or graduates of a public or private high school in District 525, or a current Joliet Junior College automotive service technology program student
  • Deadline: April 1 or until suitable candidate is found

  • Major: Automotive Service Technology
  • Selection: The faculty of the Automotive Service Technology Program will make the selection.
  • Preferences: Preference will be given to students who intend to earn an automotive service technology degree at Joliet Junior College.
  • Required Documents: Letter of reference from a high school or JJC instructor who addresses the candidates ability to meet his or her goals. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed.

Metalstamp, Inc. Scholarship

This scholarship was established to assist students majoring in Machine Technology.

Michael Escue Memorial Scholarship

Code: EN611
The Michael Escue Memorial Fund was established by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Escue to help students majoring in one of the technology programs in the Technical Department at Joliet Junior College. Students must be committed to work in or teach in the technical area. Only students eligible for in-district tuition assessment without a chargeback or cooperative agreement are eligible to apply. The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books and/or supplies. Additional criteria, other than the industrial arts major, are as follows:

  • Applicants must have relative need for the money. Need will not be determined in the stringent manner required for federal and state financial aid programs. A FASFA will be requested to provide the scholarship committee with vital information about the student and the student's family
  • Students applying for the scholarship the first year should have a cumulative 2.0 to 3.0 in high school or while in attendance at JJC
  • The award may be renewed for a second year, and while the minimum GPA remains a 2.0, no maximum GPA is imposed
  • Renewal applicants will receive first consideration for continued aid
  • Students who change majors will forfeit their scholarship and
  • Students must have an attitude which will provide service to the community and the industrial arts profession in future years.
  • Award: Determined annually
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time freshman or sophomore
  • GPA: 2.0 to 3.0 in high school or while in attendance at JJC
  • Deadline: April 1 or until suitable candidate is found

Mike Guglielmucci Sr. Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Mike Guglielmucci, Sr., Racer's Benevolent Fund and is in memory of auto racing enthusiast, Mike Guglielmucci, Sr. Applicants must have made significant progress toward a career in auto racing or in automotive technology. Alternatively, applicants must show direct or indirect (immediate family) involvement in auto racing or the automotive industry.

  • Award: Determined annually
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time (12 or more credit hours)
  • GPA: 2.0 or above
  • Deadline: October 15 (Fall Semester) / March 1 (Spring Semester)

Process Operations/Instrumentation Technology Scholarship

Stephen W. Mayer Memorial Law Enforcement Educational Grant

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the family and friends of Steven W. Mayer. Steven was a law enforcement student at Joliet Junior College who died on July 16, 1983, while in service as a Will County safety patrol officer. At least one scholarship will be awarded to a student residing in Joliet Junior College Community College District 525 who meets the following qualifications:

  • Student must be in good academic standing, and must have completed CRJ-100, CRJ-110, CRJ-130 and CRJ-150 or CRJ-155.
  • Financial need will be a consideration.
  • Award: Determined annually
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time or part-time
  • GPA: 2.0 or above
  • Deadline: April 1 or until suitable candidate is found

Student Service Recognition Award

Each major department offers two awards to a student enrolled within that specific department's area. The recipient may use the award for tuition, fees, books or supplies. Under no circumstances can a student receive more than one Student Service Recognition Award.

  • Award: $300
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time or part-time
  • GPA: 2.0 or above
  • Deadline: April 1 or until suitable candidate is found
  • Where to apply: A specific application is available on the JJC scholarships page or in the Office of Institutional Advancement, Main Campus J-2050.
  • Credit Hrs: Student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at Joliet Junior College at the time of application.
  • Selection: Awards are based on departmental recommendations.

Will County Juvenile Officers Association Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to someone pursuing a career in Criminal Justice Studies or Law Enforcement Program at Joliet Junior College and be a student in good standing and a resident of Will County, Illinois. The applicant must evidence an interest in career related work in the area of juvenile services. The applicant must be a current student at Joliet Junior College and have completed a minimum of fifteen (15) but no more than fifty-eight (58) semester of credit within the major at the time of application. The scholarship award will be presented at the Association of Criminal Justice Students' annual Awards and Recognition Banquet.

  • Award: Determined annually
  • Enrollment Status: Must be a current Joliet Junior College student and have completed a minimum of fifteen (15) but no more than fifty-eight (58) semester hours
  • GPA: 2.0 or above
  • Deadline: April 1 or until suitable candidate is found
  • Where to apply: A specific application is available on the JJC scholarships page or in the Office of Institutional Advancement, Main Campus J-2050.   • Major: Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement
  • Selection: Selection of recipients will be made by the Criminal Justice Faculty.
  • Required Documents: The applicant will be responsible for personally preparing an essay to accompany the application on the subject: "What I see as challenges and accomplishments in a career in Juvenile Services". The essay should be typed (doubled spaced) and not exceed four type written pages. Although grammatical correctness and proper use of accepted rule of composition will be considered, the primary basis for evaluation will be the overall impact of the essay on the judges. The purpose of the essay is to provide the judges with a deeper insight into the character and beliefs of the applicant as well as the applicant's ability to clearly and cogently communicate with the reader. After an initial screening, the selection committee will interview the top qualified candidates.

Will-Grundy Counties Home Builders and Associates Scholarship

Applications accepted at the start of Spring semester. Student must be a resident of Will or Grundy counties.

  • Award: $500-$1,000 annually
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time (12 or more credit hours)
  • GPA: 2.0 or above
  • Deadline: June 15
  • Where to apply: Contact the Technical Department in T1070 or by phone at (815) 280-2452.
  • Major: Career in the building industry or allied field, such as architecture or engineering
  • Selection: Recipients will be selected by the Technical Department Scholarship Committee.
  • Required Documents: On the applications, applicant must state their community involvement, leadership and extra curricular activities, involvement in the building industry (if any), and awards, honors, and achievements. Applicant must submit high school or college transcripts and a recent photo and a letter of recommendation from the Construction Technology program coordinator/advisor.
