JJC Logo

JJC Alumni Bell Tower

Joliet Junior College is proud to introduce its new logo! Launched in June 2009, it features the college's bell tower as its first official symbol. A gift from alumni, the bell tower symbolizes both the college's proud history and bright future as an educational resource shaping lives in its surrounding communities. Together with the shield, the bell tower represents the longevity, strength, endurance and collegiate excellence of JJC. The bell tower is currently located between the lake and E-Building on the college's Main Campus.

Why the bell tower is used for the symbol:

  • It has a rich history connected with the college and the local community, and is a symbol of JJC alumni's dedication and support of the college
  • It was a gift to the college from alumni in 1969 to celebrate the opening of Main Campus
  • Alumni William Glasscock ('37), who was also the Chair of the first JJC Board of Trustees, led the movement to bring the bell tower to JJC from the Will County Courthouse
  • 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the bell tower's dedication
